I chose the company Nike which is in the retail industry. Nike is known to sell shoes, clothes, gear, and more. Their main focus is on the athletic industry. The position I decided to choose was the product manager. The product manager is responsible for knowing every little spec about each product. They are also responsible for focusing in on the little details of products and features. They are the ones that drive what features will be available in the future. The production manager is responsible for working with customers as well in regards to taking care of any problem products. They must also collect data and use that within their team. The link provided below includes all of the responsibilities of this specific position. For this position you must have more than just a high school diploma and associates. You must also have lots of experience within the industry.

I am interested in this position because I always wanted to work for Nike because I purchase a lot from them. I have cousins that have worked for Nike and they enjoy it a lot. I actually applied for a part time position and was hired. I attended orientation and then was accepted in a university that was in a different city, so I had to move. However, during the orientation I was able to meet the product manager and hear a lot of the cool things that he gets to do. For instance, he gets to include his input in the making of new products. For example, when I was in orientation years ago, the product manager showed us a product that was being worked on for a future release. This product was a shoe that qould automatically lace up when you put your foot inside.

Was Mexican Californias society more or less stable (in other words, more or less vulnerable to either internal or external threats to its persistence) than Spanish Californias society had been? Why or why not

Please find below the prompt for the coming assignment for next week.  Some of this may seem clearer after we take some time to discuss the readings in class Thursday. I’ll post this as an assignment after we discuss it in class.

To get started on your short essay assignment for next week, Id like you to first consider how stable the Spanish social system was in California. For instance, the system was anchored by the controlling authority of the missionaries (backed up by soldiers), but it was threatened by cultural misunderstandings, active and passive resistance from Indians, and the toll of epidemic disease, and the brutality of Spanish soldiers, to name a few.

Next, think about what we’ve looked at in class, and the assigned readings (like Dana and the textbook) to consider the social system that replaced the missions in Mexican California by the 1830s. For instance, in Mexican California, the missions were secularized (turned into parish churches) and their vast landholdings were distributed to several hundred recipients of vast land grants who exploited Indian labor. The Spanish government had prohibited Californians from trading with foreign merchants, but the Mexican government threw open Californias ports to merchant ships from around the world. What were the strengths and weaknesses of the new social system and economy created by these and other changes?

Once youve thought through those topics, write a short paper that addresses this question: Was Mexican Californias society more or less stable (in other words, more or less vulnerable to either internal or external threats to its persistence) than Spanish Californias society had been? Why or why not? I hope its obvious that theres no objectively correct answer to this question; what Im interested to see is the strength of your argument in support of one position or the other.

Your paper should be around 750-1000 words in length and should contain all the elements of an academic paper, including an introductory paragraph with a thesis statement that expresses your answer to the question (including the why or why not part); body paragraphs that present and analyze specific, cited evidence in support of your argument; smooth transitions that link one paragraph to the next; and a conclusion that reflects upon the significance of your argument. Support your argument with specific evidence from the readings: the textbook, de La Prouse, Life in a California Mission; and Dana, Two Years Before the Mast (chapter XIII). Cite all quotes and specific information drawn from these sources with a simple parenthetical citation, as in (Rolle and Verge, 23) or (Prouse, 68) or Dana (Chapter XIII) at the end of the relevant sentence. We’ll consider lecture material to be common knowledge, so you need not cite it.

Present a strategy to ensure credibility, dependability, and transferability in your study

Present a strategy to ensure credibility, dependability, and transferability in your study

Credibility: Patton (2015) states, “Your background, experience, training, skills, interpersonal competence, capacity for empathy, cross-cultural sensitivity, and how you, as a person, engage in fieldwork and analysis these things undergird the credibility of your finings”. So, credibility depends on the researcher’s ability to accumulate, organizes, and manage data collection. I would think that using triangulation would be the most advantageous way to attain credibility within the study. As indicated by (Patton, 2015), triangulation is one way to strengthen a study because you can use several kinds od methods. Of the four types of triangulation I would choose theory triangulation which is the using multiple perspectives to interpret one set of data.

Dependability: Because dependability is focused on the process of the inquiry, the researcher is responsible for making sure that it is well documented, makes since, and can be reasonably followed. Creswell and Poth (2018) tell us that “dependability is established through an auditing of the research process”. This auditing would include identification of bias of all types, the solving of any and all conflicts, along with the use of external auditing.

Transferability: To make sure that the findings are transferable between the researcher and those being studied, thick description is necessary. According to (Creswell and Poth 2018) state that, “With such a detailed description, the researcher enables readers to transfer information to other settings and to determine whether the findings can be transferred.” Transferability is how well or the ability of research to be generalized to other populations or taken into other settings by those doing the generalizing, in this case the readers. Therefore, the strategy is to provide the thick description for data soon after it is gathered. This would include details not just about the population and its size, but also about the environment circumstances etc.

· Identify how you will address researcher’s pre-understanding, preconceptions, and biases about the topic, and how you will set them aside

(Patton, 2015) states, “You may establish an “audit trail” to verify the rigor of your fieldwork and confirmability of the data collected because you want to minimize bias, maximize accuracy, and report impartially.” As researchers our values, experiences, biases could influence how we report our findings so when reporting one must be able to put the emphasis on the findings with focus on the description and the analysis. You would include the triangulation of data sources and analytical perspectives to increase the accuracy and credibility of findings as eluded to by Patton (2015) as well.
