What were the most compelling topics learned in the course?

Overall the topics shared within the course were all compelling to me.However, there were two that stood out to me the most which were Mental Health Resources for First Responders and Communication Process.Clueless to the fact that many of our first responders encounter traumatic situations daily within the position, I wouldnever have realize how much they are affected by it. In society, we have always look more at making sure the victims in some cases received the proper treatment, but never once thought about our first responders.It was very informative to find out that their employees offer mental health counseling for these employees to have them overcome these traumatic times.No one ever wants to be associated we having a mental health disorder, but to just know that there is help for you and people care about you getting help is very beneficial. Having friends and family members that are first responders this topic has been informative on things to tell them when they discuss traumatic events.

In any job communication is key in order for an organization to operate effective and efficiently.To see that the chief decided to most a memo regarding the bullet proof vest, that left the officer clueless should me that communication was not considered important.In order for information to flow properly, he have should have had open discussion amongst his management teams, and his employees to receive feedback on the current situation prior to issuing the memo. Having lack of communication was a quick way to lose trust from your officers, as well as decrease moral. Even though he had good intentions by wanting his officers to be safe, he needs more training regarding how to communicate, and to ensure it is done in a timely fashion. Not communicating in an effective and efficient manner will not only hurt the department, but the people they protect and serve.

How did participating in discussions help your understanding of the subject manner?

We all have our opinions, as well as our own ways of finding information as it related to a subject manner.It was very beneficial to see my peer’s opinions, as well as the information that provide to support their opinion. In addition, on assignments where I need to gain more knowledge there posting help to guide me in the right direction to obtain that insight. Also, where I lack with needing more reference their posting provide me with more referencing sites to read in order to help me complete other assignments.Because of the information provide in discussion posting as well as in other areas within the class the information was very clear.

What approaches could have yielded additional value information?

Because of my time schedule participating in live chats, I was very restricted to do so. In addition, even though the information discussed in live chats was made available, I unfortunately did not review them.If I would have participated more, I would have found information that was relevant to our assignments. Utilizing the school library could have yield more articles on topics discussed. I focus on using my local library data base more assist with research material.Learning to ask the professor questions when confused could have also yield to help clarify any of my concerns.
