Environmental Hazard Analysis

Each student will choose a topic related to a particular and current environmental hazard from the list below (if a topic you are interested in is not listed, contact the instructor for approval for the topic). Students will be required to complete a 7-9 page paper discussing this issue. The paper should contain divisions for these specific parts:

Cover page

Abstract

A description of the hazard and impact on health,

A discussion on the etiologic or causative factors of this problem including disease cluster if any. A disease cluster implies any unusual aggregation of cases of illness or disease grouped in space and time. The issue often arises that someone notices an apparently high number of cases of disease in a particular street or locality, and wonders whether there might be a connection with a local environmental problem.

Assessment methods related to understanding the hazard

Prevention/Control measures to implement once the specific hazard is defined.

Reference page

The paper must be in proper APA format and include at least seven (7) peer-reviewed references published within the past 5-7 years.

Pre-Approved Topics:

Heavy/Toxic Metal poisoning

Ionizing radiation hazards

Water pollution

Food supply disruption

Air pollution

Pesticide runoff

Pest invasion

*Please note: These topics involve environmental hazards, not disease processes (though you may need to discuss this in the paper). When in doubt, contact the instructor to make sure the topic relates to the hazard, not disease. The assignment is valued at 150 points.

Write a one or two paragraph summary on your security analysis. Briefly explain who your customer is, what type of network they have, what some of your key concerns are.

Include FIVE or more questions that you want to ask the customer about their network. These should be questions that will give you information that will help you prepare for the analysis. If YOU are the customer, write down five questions that you want answered by the security analysis.

Using Microsoft Word (or in a Word-compatible .DOCX document), summarize the above information for the security analysis. Include the following information at the top of the page:

Assignment Description: Network Security Analysis — Part 2 — Outline

Remember that this is just an outline for your security analysis. You are NOT performing these activities yet. This is creating your “To Do List” of items and issues you will analyze for the project.

Consider the following Security Analysis categories that were discussed in class and are contained in the security analysis template:

  • Network/Wireless Security
  • System (PC/Server) Security
  • Backups/Disaster Recovery
  • Physical Security
  • AAA (Authorization/Authentication/Accounting) User Education
  • Category: Wireless Network Security
  • Topic: Is the wireless network password protected?
  • Action: Use laptop to try and connect to wireless network.

For EACH of the above categories, create five to seven topics/questions in each category that you will analyze for your customer.

Then, for each topic/question, write a brief action item describing how you will approach that topic for your customer.

For example:

Your grade will be based on the quality of your questions and action items.

Details:

Throughout this course you have been preparing separate components of a comprehensive 2,500-word financial analysis (excluding tables, figures, and addenda) of a chosen company (Facebook)following the nine-step assessment process detailed in Assessing a Company’s Future Financial Health.

There are three parts to the final component assignment of the case study.

Part One (Case Study Component 4)

Apply the final three steps of the nine-step assessment process to develop a 750-word analysis of your chosen company:

  1. Viability of the 3-5 Year Plan
  2. Stress Test Under Scenarios of Adversity
  3. Current Financing Plan

Part Two

Access the three prior component assignments, with instructor feedback incorporated, that you submitted in Topics 2, 4, and 6. Integrate these three assignments into the final case study submission along with the Component 4 assignment in this topic to provide a comprehensive analysis inclusive of all nine steps that flows from start to finish.

Part Three

Assume that you will be presenting your analysis to a group of senior management at your place of employment that urgently needs to know this information to make a major financial decision for your company. In 250 words, develop an introduction to your analysis that can serve as an overview. Consider factors that might impede their ability to focus on the information you are presenting. For example, some of your audience may be pressed for time, another may have a crisis in their work team that needs to be attended to quickly, and others may simply not be paying attention. You have one chance to impress them; keep your overview focused, succinct, and informative. Present only key and other potentially relevant points this group needs to know.
