Introduction
Reengineering or redesign is often necessary when the process cannot meet its expectations of performance. Consider reengineering to be the process of redesign and redevelopment. This can apply both to product or service and may not involve engineering personnel.
Directions
Think of a product or service that can be reinvented or reengineered because performance does not meet expectations. For Example, how many times have you waited at the Doctor’s office long past your appointment time? Have you ever taken apart a mechanical or electrical device to see how it operates? Have you ever tried to reengineer a food recipe by adding or subtracting ingredients? These are simple examples of reengineering. Of course, you could reengineer a product and make it safer, cheaper, more resilient, etc. The automobile has frequent been reengineered to incorporate safety issues.
Choose a product or service (that is under performing) and follow the process of reengineering. described in your textbook. Remember the emphasis is on strategy and outcomes – do not worry about the specific details. Consider how the reengineered item will perform better, meeting needs (focus on the desired outcomes).
Prepare a 300-word paper to discuss your strategy and desired outcome. Note: Each student will prepare and submit this paper individually.
