There are different interpretations of the historic numbered Treaties of Canada. The federal government has 

their own interpretations of the Treaty agreements and First Nations have their own understandings of what 

was negotiated with the British Crown. As an example, Treaty #4 was signed in 1874 near where the 

current town of Fort Qu’Appelle is located. A few years after Treaty #4 was signed, Chief Paskwa, one of 

the signatories of Treaty #4 decided to created a document that was intended for Queen Victoria of England 

(Queen Victoria has often been referred to by First Nations as the Queen Mother as she was the reigning 

monarch of England during the early Indian Treaty period.) “Chief Paskwa created a document of his own,

in the form of a pictograph based on what he was told by an interpreter, says Delbert Pasqua. Delbert 

Pasqua is a direct descendant of Chief Paskwa and is in charge of deciphering the images that were put to 

paper. [Chief Paskwa] didn’t understand them, he had to take the interpreter’s word that this is what [the

In law enforcement data storage is very important. For example NAFIS is a nationwide data base that different sectors of law enforcement can access to match finger prints of collected individuals who have committed crimes.

I would implement a data library for police officers with that contains necessary policies, procedures and regulations with the different types of technology. Technology in law enforcement plays a big part with helping police officer do their job by helping locate a missing person, catch a thief, and gather important information on someone.

“Data Mining is the use of sophisticated computer software to conduct analysis of behavior patterns in effort to identify crime patterns and link them to suspects. By discovering patterns in crimes such as burglary, especially those involving multiple offenders, computer programs can be programmed to recognize a particular way of working a crime and thereby identify suspects most likely to fit the profile”. (Siegel, 2012)

I think this piece of technology is great to have because it will lower the crime rate percentage and help get criminals off the streets.Also, the way this piece of technology will be easy to identify the individual(s) that are doing these crime patterns just from the data base.

“Thermal imager is a device that detects radiation in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum and is used in law enforcement to detect variations in temperature (warm images stand out against cool backgrounds). These devices, which can be mounted on aircraft or handled, use infrared technology to detect heat signals. Also known as “night vision,” thermal imaging helps law enforcement officials detect everything from marijuana-growing operations to suspects hiding from officers in foot pursuits”. (Siegel, 2012)

So these two types of technology are helpful in law enforcement. Data mining that detects criminal pattern from the analysis of behavior, and thermal imaging the technology that detects radiation. I find this helpful in hopes of finding missing persons, and drugs.Without this technology our crime rates will be a lot higher that what they are now, criminals will be getting away with more crimes and their identity will be withheld. This will also help law enforcement clean up our streets and help fight crime.

A new type of information management I would introduce to law enforcement would be a type of technology that would require repeated DUI offenders to obtain a chip inserted in their motor vehicle that would alert police officers of the offender’s proximity so the officer could make a field check to see if they have been drinking. This check would be highly effective to help prevent a reoccurring situation.
