Professional nursing organizations

Professional nursing organizations are designed for the patient’s safety and quality care as well as ensuring nurses are competent and safe to perform quality and safe patient care (Helbig, 2018).

Professional nursing organizations are designed for the patient’s safety and quality care as well as ensuring nurses are competent and safe to perform quality and safe patient care (Helbig, 2018).  For example, (ANA) American Nurse Association is a professional organization with goals of improving health care and setting standards for nursing practice improving the nursing  profession and supporting nurses (ANA, n.d.c).  Another is the (NCSBN) National Council of State Boards of Nursing which was created to protect the public from incompetent nurses and require knowledge, skill, and independent decision making in order to be licensed as an RN.  There are also others like the (IOM) Institute of Medicine which protects and informs the public and focuses on suggestions to improve health care (Helbig, 2018), and the (TJC) The Joint Commission which is an organization that identifies issues of patient safety within health care organizations and then designs a plan to correct the issues (The Joint Commission [TJC], 2017).  All of these organizations advocate for patients and their safety while creating standards of practice for the nursing profession and push for change within the health care system while giving suggestions of how to give safe quality care to patients.

I am thankful for these organizations and what they are doing for us as nurses and for the patients we care for.  This allows best safe practice and gives guidelines to follow to ensure competent nurses give safe quality care.

Relationship Analysis

  • Review Chapter 10 of your course text, Social Psychology, focusing on attachments in childhood and adulthood. Also focus on the factors involved in attraction, romantic love, relationship satisfaction, and romantic breakups.
  • Review at least two of the journal articles in this week’s Learning Resources to explore aspects of attraction and romantic relationships in different cultures. (You do not have to read all of the articles.) Think about how people in a different culture might view and behave in relationships. Notice the similarities and differences between that culture and your own.

The Assignment (2–4 pages):

In a 2- to 4-page paper, analyze a personal relationship you have or have had (or a relationship of someone you know well). This relationship may be a romantic relationship or a friendship. Address the following:

  • Briefly identify the type of relationship you are using as your example and describe each person’s attachment style.
  • Select at least four concepts or theories from your readings that describe in more depth the relationship and/or how this relationship developed, was maintained, or ended.  Analyze how these four concepts or theories relate to the relationship you have chosen to assess.
  • Finally, select a culture presented in one of the articles listed and consider how that cultural context could impact your relationship. If one or both of the individuals in your relationship was from this other culture, would your four selected concepts or theories still apply in the same way? If not, what would differ? Would another concept or theory be more applicable, and why? Use information from, and cite, your selected article.

Differential Diagnoses And Pediatrics

After reviewing the readings and overview, discuss the significance of understanding the following items in relation to clinical practice as an advanced practice nurse. Consider the following two situations in addressing your assigned roles:

  • Patient A: A 32-year-old Asian American construction worker visits his primary care physician with a 2-inch cut on the anterior aspect of his right hand. He lacerated his hand while fixing a barbed-wire fence 5 days ago. He told his wife that he did not have time to go to his primary care provider for such a small cut. The primary care provider noted the wound bed to be erythemic, swollen, and with a small amount of purulent greenish drainage on the Band-Aid the wife had placed on cut. The patient had an oral temperature of 100°F. The primary care provider cleaned the wound, applied a clean dressing, administered Tdap, and called in a prescription for 10 day-courses of an antibiotic.
  • Patient B: A 5-year old was playing on his family’s farm when he accidentally tripped over a fallen fence suffering a similar injury as the first patient. This child suffered a 2-inch cut to the anterior aspect of his right hand. His father cleaned the wound, covered the site, and made an appointment for the following week (about 3 days later) to see the pediatrician. The pediatrician examined the wound and noted the wound bed to be erythemic, swollen, and with a small amount of purulent drainage on the Band-Aid the father had placed on the cut. The patient had an oral temperature of 100°F. The primary care provider cleaned the wound, applied a clean dressing, administered dTAP, and called in a prescription for 10 day-course of an antibiotic.

In your post please answer these questions based on each of the patients above:

  • 1. Identify some potential concerns based on the findings of the wounds for each patient and provide a rationale for the healthcare provider’s treatment choices. Include the mechanism of wounds healing in your discussion.
  • 2. In addition, briefly discuss each individual’s risk for shock and what type of shock he is at most risk for based on the information presented.
  • Explain your rationale for your choices, citing resources from the literature.
  • 3. What are further assessment findings that you would expect to find on inspection of each patient? Discuss the risk factors for the development of shock in this individual.
  • 4. What are the corresponding potential differential diagnoses that you would prioritize based upon these findings? Explain your rationale for selecting differential diagnoses, using evidence from the literature.
  • 5.Discuss the pathophysiology issues that must be addressed due to changes at the cellular level.

Discussion should be about 2 paragraphs for each question and ANSWER/address all the questions.
