The first business information system used in my organization that I will discuss is Supply Chain Management (SCM). When defining supply chain management, for a healthcare organization it is a set of coordinated decisions and activities to effectively integrate suppliers, manufacturers, warehouses, and customers to produce and allocate the products or services at the right amounts, the right time, right location, and to reduce system costs while meeting customer expectations (Polater et al., 2014). The activities of supply chain entail collaboration of many intra-departments within the organization which include logistics, marketing, operations to name a few. The plans strengthen relationships and enhance coordination within the functions of the organization and its external partners (Vickery et al., 2010).

The second business information system used in my organization that I will discuss is Human Resource Management. This is a strategic approach to effectively manage people in the organization. There has been cumulative evidence that implementing human resource management in organizations has a significant impact on in firm performance (Cogin et al., 2016). It is to help gain a competitive advantage and to help maximize employeeâ€s performance. The four functions of human resource management are planning, directing, controlling, and organizing.   

 Example of supply chain management and how it affects my organization of healthcare by cost and reimbursements, efficient data collection and analysis amongst other things. During the pandemic we have a great supply chain management of what we have in our organization. What and how much PPE we have and the burn rate. In healthcare, our consumers are patients and the product they want is their own improved health or most affordable price. Example of human resource management and how it affects my organization of healthcare implementing effective strategies to achieve better outcomes and access health care. Having the operational assistance in collecting, storing, preparing data reports, data tracking, payroll, book keeping, reducing labor cost, and to provide timely information. This helps with workforce training, orientation, tracking, evaluations, organization, and better efficient management.

The importance of business information system matters to businesses because it has a direct affect to the way they structure, create, and capture value to earn a profit (Drnevich, P.L., & Croson, D.C., 2013). It helps ease the process of decision making, simplifies the process of delivering required information, better communication between employees and employers. I have learned the five important components which are hardware, software, data, people and networks. Managers need to understand how systems can be used in their environment because it can play a vital role in the success and sustainability of the organization they work for. It can help you in the competitive market, inventory, planning decisions, or if they want to sell products or to enhance services on-line. They want to grow, learn and keep up with the newest technology in the quickly growing market.

I currently work for insurance which I help with insurance claims and provide benefits. One the biggest business tools system I used at my current organization is the Rumba system and cost estimator tool. These two tools are design to give estimator prices of insurance cost to the patients before services are being render. This is a broad tool to help insurance companies find providers and help understand the geographical rate in the areas. The reason why this tool is helpful because often timeâ€s patients are worried of whatâ€s going to come out of their pocket or even if a procedure is covered.

 We are able to find this out ahead of time so therefore it leaves patients comfortable. “This material is for information only. Health information programs provide general health information and are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a physician or other health care professional. Information is believed to be accurate as of the production date; however, it is subject to change” (Aetna Inc, 2020). There are many ways that these tools advance we have incorporate with Apple and Google play, where the customer can used these tools as well.  They can download the app form their phones and be able to communicate with us with the tool. In case of any downfalls the Rumba system backs up from the cost estimator tool which allows us to process things manually. 

We know computers can mess as just as much as humans. So, we have ways around business system tools where it wonâ€t allow us to have any delays. This is very helpful because it allows employees to be up to speed with training.  Business systems are the foundation that not only implement helpful strategies for business but also policies as well. “Those foundational elements lead to a much more insightful way to investigate and grow top-line revenue. In short, a business system takes care of your future. It ensures you meet your customers†expectations and improve your brand, which are key to growing a healthy business” (Waldo, 2020).
