Discussion Question

In this course, each of you will be developing a research proposal. Our focus this week is to identify a problem specific to your role option that is amenable to an innovative solution.

Based on your specialty role option (i.e., Nurse Practitioner), identify a potential problem (topic) that you would like to investigate through nursing research. Begin by reading the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) position statement on nursing research (http://www.aacn.nche.edu/publications/position/nursing-research).

Next explore and conduct a search to locate a minimum of three nursing research articles that have addressed the problem you have identified. The literature may not be older than 5 years. After reading the literature respond to the following:

  1. Note your role specialization and briefly describe the problem you are interested in researching and why this is of interest to you.
  2. Discuss your library search strategies and briefly summarize the literature you reviewed. Focus your discussion on the “problem” and how the literature you identified provides evidence of the existence of the problem.
  3. Include in your discussion a potential innovation that you might consider as a solution to the problem identified.
  4. Include citations/references in APA style format, using citations where appropriate.

Substance Abuse

  • 04:21
  • Research suggests that treatment of substance use disorders is more effective for sustained recovery. We also know that the longer someone remains in treatment, the more likely the person is to have sustained recovery. From a social work lens, discuss how you would approach a client about entering treatment. How would you discuss this with the client’s family? How will you determine what level of care will best serve the client’s immediate needs? What will you recommend for the family? How will you explain this to the family? How will you introduce the idea of 12-step meetings to the client?  2)Throughout your studies in the MSW program here at UNE, you will be working to develop your clinical philosophy for treatment for both individual and family therapy. Now that you have learned about the various treatment approaches and modalities that can be applied to substance abuse work, please integrate these new insights into your emerging/evolving clinical philosophy as a professional and respond to the following questions:  Of all the treatment approaches and modalities that you’ve learned about this week and in prior courses (e.g., CBT, DBT, narrative, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, group therapy, etc.), which is one of your favorites and why?  Briefly describe the major tenets of your chosen approach and cite reasons why you feel it could be impactful with clients diagnosed with substance use disorders and how it could be applied with them. Provide examples.  Describe one intervention/technique that hails from your treatment approach that could be used with substance abuse clients. There are a plethora of options to choose from from the various models, so please attempt to pick one that is different than something your peers have already written about. The idea is to share as many resources within your group as possible to add to your “intervention toolboxes.”  Your initial response should be at least 1-2 full, substantive paragraphs per bullet point question minimum, and your second and third responses should be a reaction to peers’ postings. Make sure to use and cite course readings and other material to support your contributions. All citations should follow APA rules and at least two scholarly references (journal articles, clinical books, etc.) apart from your class textbooks must be included.

Re: Forum for CLC – Case Study Component 4

The purpose of this assignment is to analyze a company’s future financial health.

This assignment is the fourth component in your group’s comprehensive financial analysis project. The steps referenced here follow the nine-step assessment process detailed in Assessing a Company’s Future Financial Health.

Component 4

For this part of the assignment,,analysis of your chosen company based on the final three steps of the nine-step assessment process.

Step 8: Stress Test Under Scenarios of Adversity

Step 9: Current Financing Plan

Prepare this part of the assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Differentiate between vertigo and lightheadedness.

It is anticipated that the initial discussion response should be in the range of 250-300 words. Response posts must demonstrate topic knowledge and scholarly engagement with peers. This is not the only criteria utilized for evaluation; substantive content is imperative. All questions in the topic must be addressed. Please proofread your response carefully for grammar and spelling. Do not upload any attachments. All responses need to be supported by a minimum of one scholarly resource. Journals and websites must be cited appropriately. Citation and reference must adhere to APA format (6th Ed.).

Classroom Participation

Students are expected to initially address the discussion question by Wednesday of each week. Participation in the discussion forums is expected with a minimum total of three (3) substantive postings (this includes your initial posting and posting to two peers) on three (3) different days per week. Substantive means that you add something new to the discussion, you aren’t just agreeing. This is also a time to ask questions or offer information surrounding the topic addressed by your peers. Personal experience is appropriate for a substantive discussion and should be correlated to the literature.

All discussion boards will be evaluated utilizing rubric criterion inclusive of content, analysis, collaboration, writing and APA. If you fail to post an initial discussion you will not receive these points, you may however post to your peers for partial credit following the guidelines above. Due to the nature of this type of assignment and the need for timely responses for initial posts and posting to peers, the Make-Up Coursework Policy (effective July 2017) does not apply to Discussion Board Participation.
