HRM400 Colorado State Human Resources Strategic Plan Portfolio Project No 1

Science

Portfolio Project #1 provides data from a hypothetical organization. The data has been attached below.

You will create a strategic plan that aligns the human resources (HR) function with the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives. The overall scope of the Portfolio Project is to create a “Shared Services” structure for HR that will be housed at the organization’s corporate offices.

Milestone Deliverables due Weeks 2, 4 and 5 – these will be submitted as separate assignments so you will get paid for them (in addition to the portfolio project)

Week 2: Portfolio Milestone: Outline (25 points of the final Portfolio grade)

Prepare an outline of your plan project and submit it to your instructor for review. Please use APA format and include a two- to three-sentence description of each section.

Week 4: Portfolio Milestone: Annotated Bibliography (75 points of the final Portfolio grade)

A solid foundation of research will support the theoretical base and practical applications of your strategic plan. Prepare an annotated bibliography of the 10 or more sources you have selected. Submit the completed document to your instructor for review.

Week 5: Portfolio Milestone: Purpose Statement (50 points of the final Portfolio grade)

Most of us are aware of the term “purpose statement” but are unsure of its real meaning within an organization. It is a statement describing the organization’s purpose, or the reason for its existence. The purpose of an organization reflects a desired position in the marketplace. It should accurately answer to the questions below. The purpose statement is the written summary of those answers.

  • Who are we?
  • What do we do?
  • For whom do we do this?
  • How do we know when we are getting it done?

The purpose statement is the written summary of those answers. The most effective purpose statements are short, concise, and direct. A good purpose statement is between 2–3 sentences.

Answer the four questions above and create a purpose statement for your HR department. Submit the answers to the four questions and the purpose statement to your instructor for review.

NOTE: At this stage, you will need to name your company and decide the service they provide or products they manufacture.

For all Portfolio Milestone assignments: Although you will not earn points the weeks you submit these deliverables, they are required components of the Portfolio Project and you will lose points on your final project grade if you fail to submit these assignments as required by the end of the weeks they are due. See the Portfolio Project grading rubric below for details.

Initial Posts should consist of at least 150 words

Consider possible topics for the Argumentative Research paper. Be creative. Avoid broad, frequently-argued topics such as the Death Penalty and Obesity. Present at least three topics, and of the three, select one. Based upon that one topic, create a sentence Outline that includes a well-defined thesis statement (claim), at least three points to support your thesis statement, and at least one counter argument. Conclude this outline with a sentence that indicates how you might respond to the counter argument.

Two Replies: Each reply should consist of at least 100 words.

1. Would you test a new skincare product on your child just to test if it has a side effect on their skin? Hopefully, your answer is no. If it is, then why would we test them on other innocent creatures like animals. Anything with a beating heart should have their life valued as much as our own.

Animal testing is an aged practice that should be a problem of the past. Today we have new inventions and discoveries happening daily. If we can create prosthetic limbs then we can create an imitation skin that we will be able to test products on and get similar results. Switching to this practice can save millions of lives, and still give the wanted result.

You must be thinking, what about cost? While it may be costly to create this skin or human like organisms to practice and test products on rather than finding a bunch of rats, it is our job as humans to celebrate all walks of life and preserve our furry friends on this planet.

Doubts I often hear is that the imitation skin/testing practice cannot give as close or good of a result as an actual living creature can. This is definitely a possibility, but with technology evolving daily it is a small factor that can soon or has already been diminished.

2.Thesis statement:

Teenagers should not be allowed to date until they turn 18 years old to prevent sexual abuse in young teenagers, to prevent dependency on a significant other, and so they can focus on their grades.

  1. According to professional studies about 1 out of 5 women are sexually abuse every year by significant others.
  1. Psychologist recommend that young woman should not be alone past 9pm.
  2. Teens that have liberty from their parents at an early age, turn into rebels.
  3. 33% of abuse cases were by a significant other or a family member.
  1. Teenagers will become more dependent on their significant other
  1. Low self-esteem is a big issue on why young teens grow dependency on someone else
  2. There are more likely to be brain washed
  1. School should be their main priority
  1. Focusing on school and achieving excellent grades for college acceptances
  2. Boys and girls can be a major distraction to each other.

Not being allowed to date at an early age will not make a teen deprived, as a social life will be allowed under certain conditions. Friendships and relationship are very different.
