Theories of Child Development discussion

Other

In this course, you have explored classic theories of child development while investigating emerging theories in the field. In this final assignment, you will reflect on the knowledge and skills you have acquired in the course by offering your perspectives on a set of guiding questions.

Course Objectives  Explain classic developmental theories relevant to early childhood education and the application to actual educational settings.  Develop a working knowledge of typical developmental stages from infancy to early childhood across multiple domains of development.  Identify typical patterns of cognition based upon classic developmental theories.  Relate genetics and environmental factors on the developmental sequence for individual children.  Describe developmentally and age-appropriate practice in relation to developmental needs of children.  Apply research-based theories to classroom practices relevant to early childhood classrooms.  Demonstrate an understanding of constructivist methods in relation to cognitive development.

Directions: 1) Save and print the Module 5 Reflection PDF. 2) Create a three-page paper in a Word or text document for your response. Use 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font. 3) Use APA (6th edition) format for the title page, references page, and in-text citations. 4) Use the questions to guide your response:  How will your understanding of developmental theory and stages guide your interactions in an early childhood educational setting?  What elements of early childhood education do you feel are essential to provide within a quality care program? 5) Follow the directions to submit your final Word or text document.

1) DISCUSSION QUESTION

Law is always evolving. It slowly changes over time in response to its environment. In business, new types of products, services and practices drive the development of law as it is forced to adapt to situations we can’t even think about today. A great example is the “gig” economy created by companies such as Uber and Lyft and their “do it yourself” ride service.

What new developments do you think will present the need to rethink and re-evaluate how business law concepts apply today or in the future?

2) PEER REVIEW #1 (FELICIA)

I think with the development of so many different social media sites and children as young as two watching Youtube videos and I know this because my two-year granddaughter watches it daily. I think the need for much more stricter parental guidance so that our children can be safe against pedophiles if the companies don’t control these things they can face lawsuits from parents for the information they are allowing on their websites unless they put a restriction on. the age of the viewer then its up to the parents to control if the children are watching or not. Should Internet companies or social sites be held liable for the content they allow on their sites if it puts children in harm’s way? I say Yes.

3) PEER REVIEW #2 (TANYA)

Amazon is a billion-dollar corporation who has millions of employees working for CEO Jeff Bezos. Bezos is always thinking ahead of everyone else when it comes to creating new technology to make his consumers happy by keeping them loyal to his business. Bezos business mindset and technology are changing the way business is conducted every day. Consumers want their packages fast and for a reasonable price. He was the first to start 2-day shipping for prime members. Stores were losing money, so they had to follow suit to compete with their competitor. Now Amazon is considering using drones to deliver packages to their consumers called Prime Air. The drones deliver packages to customers in 30 minutes or less. Also, the company hires contractors to deliver packages using their cars. About a year and a half filed a patent application for the grocery store called Amazon Go allowing shoppers to pick items and leave without stopping at a cashier station or kiosk. This concept is a great convenience for consumers because the store uses cameras, sensors that would be able to identify shoppers and the items they have chosen. The advance technology is a cost-effective way to compete with a traditional retailer who hires people to work operate registers. I love this thought of Amazon Go in my community because there are times I want to grab and go without having to deal with anyone. An individual has to have an Amazon account and Amazon Go app to enter the store to buy your items. Whose to say that someone would not be able to figure out a way to steal items even though there are tons of cameras every where. There are cameras that will be able to identify you.

Discussion: Applying the Theories of Reasoned Action/Planned Behavior and the Transtheoretical Model to Health Challenges

The Theory of Reasoned Action/Planned Behavior is based on the principle that one’s “intention” to perform a behavior is the key, rather than as previously thought, that one’s attitude alone toward the behavior is the driving force. The Transtheoretical Model, which is classified as a theory, is based on the concept that behavior change is a process that occurs in specific stages, irrespective of the behavior.

In this Discussion you will explore the application of the Transtheoretical Model to better understand the health literacy of inner-city families and their purchase of fruits and vegetables at convenience stores.

To prepare:

  • Consider what resources are available to inner-city families. What access might they have to fresh fruits and vegetables?
  • Consider how the Transtheoretical Model might apply to these inner-city families and their access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

By Day 5 of Week 4

Post an explanation of why someone might use the Transtheoretical Model to better understand health literacy of inner-city families regarding the purchase of fruits and vegetables at a convenience store.

Be sure to cite information using APA style.

Support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct.

STAT 101 Statistic Problems Paper

Mathematics

  • 1/ Various temperature measurements are recorded at different times for a particular city. The mean of 20ºC is obtained for 40 temperatures on 40 different days. Assuming that σ=1.5ºC, test the claim that the population mean is 22ºC. Use a 0.05 significance level.

Identify the null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, test statistics, P-value and final the conclusion about the original claim.

  • 2/ A random sample of 16 women resulted in blood pressure levels with a standard deviation of 22.7 mm Hg. A random sample of 17 men resulted in blood pressure levels with a standard deviation of 20.1 mm Hg.

Use a 0.05 significance level to test the claim that blood pressure for women vary more than blood pressure levels for men.

  • 3/ A manufacturer considers his production process to be out of control when defects exceed 3%. In a random sample of 85 items, the defect rate is 5.9% but the manager claims that this is only a sample fluctuation and production is not really out of control. Identify the null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, test statistics, P-value and At the 0.01 level of significance test the manager claim.
  • 4/ A researcher was interested in comparing the response times of two different cab companies. Companies A and B were each called at 50 randomly selected times. The calls to company A were made independently of the calls to company B. The response times for each call were recorded. The summary statistics were as follows:

Company A

Company B

Mean response time

7.6 mins

6.9 mins

Standard deviation

1.4 mins

1.7 mins

Use a 0.01 significance level to test the claim that the mean response time for company A is the same as the mean response time for company B. Use the P-value method of hypothesis testing.

Use the traditional method of hypothesis testing with critical value t= -3.143.

  • 6/ Test the claim that the mean lifetime of car engines of a particular type is greater than 2,20,000 miles. Sample data are summarized as n=23, x~ = 2,26,450 miles and s=11,500 miles . Use a significance level of a= 0.01
