Chapter 3 Countering Critical Response discussion

After reading “Chapter 3: Countering” in Rewriting, 2nd edition (pages 55-72), type up an outline.

  1. Choose 10-15 important concepts you learned in this section. Use quotation marks or paraphrasing appropriately to avoid plagiarism, and include a page number for each of these concepts. Also, use bullet points or numbering for each new concept. Underline or bold any key terms/phrases for emphasis within each bullet point.
  2. For each bullet point (concept), add 1-2 sentences, explaining the importance of this concept, or why it stood out to you. Use complete sentences.
  3. Aim for 400-800 words total. Put this word count in the 5th line of your heading.

Unit III Essay

Imagine that you are the human resources (HR) manager at a small start-up company, and your company has just been awarded a new contract that is requiring a huge increase in the organization’s workforce. As a result, you have been asked to outline the process that you will use to develop an internally consistent compensation system and present it to the owners of the company for approval.

Create a two-page essay in which you address the following issues:

the reasons why an internally consistent compensation system is necessary and
the process involved in creating an internally consistent compensation system.
Make sure that your essay includes enough information to convince the owners that the time, effort, and manpower that this process will take will be worth it to the company in the long run. Please be sure that all sources used, including your textbook, are cited and referenced properly using APA formatting.

Describe at least three of the following items in a 15- to 20-slide presentation that includes speaker notes:

  • Hiring and selection practices
  • Training and Development
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Performance Feedback
  • Employee engagement

Analyze these practices to determine if they help to create an environment that does not need a union.

Cite any outside sources according to APA formatting guidelines.
